Beginner Roadmap

A good first project is small enough to finish in one sitting and clear enough that every color has a purpose. Work through the craft in repeatable steps.

Pick a small pattern

Choose a design with a modest size and a limited color count. High contrast shapes are easier to check before ironing.

Prepare beads and boards

Gather the listed colors, a matching pegboard, tweezers, and ironing paper. Place supplies where the board will not be bumped.

Place by color area

Many beginners do well by filling large color blocks first, then outlines and details. Stop occasionally to compare the board with the pattern.

Iron and cool

Use ironing paper, move the iron smoothly, and let the piece cool flat before lifting it from the board.

Move to larger projects

After a few small pieces, try multi-board patterns, printed references, or original designs made from your own images.

Practical tips

  • Start with a small icon.
  • Sort colors before placing.
  • Photograph the board before ironing.
